RAID: Shadow Legends is an amazing strategy RPG game, and the best part about it, is that you can play it for free. It was first released back in 2019, and the game is still extremely popular nowadays, the developers from Platinum Games are constantly updating and releasing new content. So if you’ve been searching for a game to play, either on your cellphone when you’re bored or when you are at home and want to work on collecting Champions, try out RAID: Shadow Legends. And if you just installed the game, you might’ve already played through the tutorial, which teaches you the basics of the game, but it doesn’t give you much more info. So if you’re still feeling a little lost, then this article will help you out.

Let’s Get You Started

Right off the bat, the game will offer you the chance to handpick your starter champion, Kael, Galek, Athel or Elhain. Kael is a Dark Elf that focuses on dealing damage over time, and later on, he becomes extremely useful for beating bosses. His skills are a mix of both AoE and single target. Dark Bolt hits a single target and has a chance of inflicting poison on it for two turns, Acid Rain hits all enemies, and for each enemy defeated, Kael’s turn meter is filled by 25%, giving him chances to attack more often.

Galek is an Orc, and he is a great choice for giving players a strong early game, however, he becomes less effective as you go further into the game. He is great at damaging enemies over time, and here are his abilities. Cross Slash is a skill that hits one target twice. Hellraiser targets all enemies and grants Galek a speed buff for two turns. And his last skill is Cursed Blade, it hits four enemies and can debuff them, reducing their defense. If his targets already have more than two debuffs, it reduces their defense even more.

Elhain is a High Elf archer, and amongst the four starting champions, she is the one that gets powerful in the late game. She is great at dealing damage to both one target, and all enemies at once. Her skills are Keen Shot, it hits a single target, and if it is a critical strike, it will hit the target again. Elhein’s second skill is Lightning Arrow, she first fires an arrow at one enemy, then proceeds to shoot all enemies. If your first target dies, she will receive a crit rate bonus for two turns. And her last skill is Valley Of Death, and it hits all enemies twice.

And the last starter champion is Athel, a Telerian that can use skills to buff herself, but sadly she is the weakest choice among all the four champions. Her early and late game isn’t good compared to the other three champions, so it is best if you choose any of the other three.

Now that you’re done choosing your champion, only one game mode will be available to you at the start, and it is one of the most important modes in the game. The campaign is a great way for players to farm, and after you get enough champions to have a full team, you should focus on completing as many campaign missions as you can. You will eventually come across a level that you can’t beat, so when reaching that point, your next step is to farm so that you can get stronger. So just find the last level that you can complete by using auto-battle, complete it until your champions are strong enough.

The Next Step

While completing as much as you can of the campaign, since it is an amazing way for you to level up your characters and earn silver, be on the lookout for other modes that you can play so that you can mix things up a bit. You can head to the arena, the PvP, and see if your champion is strong enough to beat your opponents. If you want to have some advantage, try to have champions that can buff your team, debuff the opponent’s team, and a character that deals AoE damage. Having a well-balanced team can help you win against other players.

You can also go to the dungeon, a mode where you go through different types of stages that have unique challenges. This mode is good for farming items like mastery scrolls, and ascension potions. You should build your team depending on what type of dungeon you’re looking to compete in.

You can also fight against the clan boss, where your goal is to try and deal as much damage as you can before being defeated. In the beginning, you might not be able to do tons of damage, but if you picked either Ethel or Kael as your starter champion, you will be able to do a little more damage.

In the end, RAID: Shadow Legends is a game that will require you to spend some hours in it so that you can get familiar with everything the game has to offer. Right at the start, it will be a little overwhelming, but it is important to be patient and to spend some time getting used to the game. Be sure to not waste your resources to upgrade low-level champions, and wait until you get some three-star heroes, and use them to upgrade them. Another important thing to remember is to not waste your skill tomes on the first champions you get. These tomes are hard to come by, so you’re gonna want to spend them with good heroes.

If you want a little bonus for when you start the game, RAID: Shadow Legends usually sponsor a lot of YouTubers, and they offer amazing bonuses for first-time players, so that is something to keep an eye out for. You’re now ready to go and raid.
