RAID: Shadow Legends Review

If you like hero collector games, you are sure to be a fan of Raid: Shadow Legends. With hundreds of champions to collect from 16 playable factions, you will be on the hunt for a very long time. And the designers from Plarium seem to never be sleeping, new Champions are added to the game on a regular basis.

Game Review

For you to be unaware of the Raid: Shadow Legends phenomenon, you would need to have been away from planet Earth these last few years. It’s simple: the game is everywhere (Google Play, App Store, Bing, YouTube, Facebook - you name it). And we have to give it to them, their ads are pretty amazing (If you haven’t seen ‘em, go on YouTube and look them up. My favorite is definitely the one where Orcs go on couples therapy). This said, the game is not only a hyped-up trend, it has evolved into one of the dominant MMORPGs out there.

HUNDREDS OF CHAMPIONS FROM 16 PLAYABLE FACTIONS

If you like hero collector games, you are sure to be a fan of Raid: Shadow Legends. With hundreds of champions to collect from 16 playable factions, you will be on the hunt for a very long time. And the designers from Plarium seem to never be sleeping, new Champions are added to the game on a regular basis. You will need to focus on a faction at first to benefit from Faction Wars, while still trying to mix up Champions from different factions to have the best team available when you hit the Arena or the Campaign. With so many options to choose from, you will be able to try different approaches and mix up different strategies.

DEEP TACTICAL GAMEPLAY

Unlocking Champions is one thing and having them fight is another, but you will need to learn to gear them up properly in order to get the best out of each and every one of them. Speed is the name of the game. Who will go first in your sequence? Who needs to go last? These decisions alone will have a major impact on the effectiveness of your team. And that is not all. Some are meant to dish out damage while others are meant to be tanks. Some are there to buff your other Champions, some are there to heal them. As you can probably imagine, a good sequence would sound something like - buff, dish out damage or tank, heal. With 9 artifacts slots, 7 different types of artifacts, more than two dozen artifacts sets, you will have plenty of things to figure out before you are able to optimize.

And this is only a start. Each Champion can be ascended to 6 stars (where they can level up to lvl 60), as well as gain masteries from 3 different mastery trees. The choices you make here will also have a huge impact on how your Champions perform. Some options will be better suited for Arena battle, while others will work best when used in Clan battles or in the Campaign. We weren’t kidding when we said that the game had depth when it came to tactical gameplay!

YOUR JOURNEY WILL TAKE YOU TO MANY PLACES

As you embark on your journey to become the savior of Teleria, you will be called upon to travel to many places. The Campaign will have you fight through 12 locations, all of which contain 7 stages. Each location will require you to defeat a boss at stage 7 in order to unlock the next one. And since the campaign can be played on 4 difficulty levels, it will take you some time to complete it all. And the campaign is but a start.

You will also need to enter dangerous Dungeons and deadly Faction Crypts. You will want to join a Clan in order to fight epic Clan Boss battles. You might even want to climb the rankings of the Arena by fighting other players in PvP battles. All in all, you will never be out of things to do as you set out to master all the different game modes.

A GAME THAT IS HERE TO STAY

Some will argue that Raid: Shadow Legends has weaknesses and I don't think that anyone could disagree. Indeed, the regular in-game pop-ups to sell you stuff can be a little annoying, but they are gone in a matter of a few clicks. Not a fan of the grind? Well maybe the game does not fit your playstyle. All in all, I believe Raid: Shadow Legends has way more upsides than downsides and it is my opinion that the game is definitely here to stay. With millions of active players, who could disagree?

Happy raiding!
