Every Weapon in Splitgate Ranked: 2021 Tier List

Splitgate combines the best of what made Halo and Portal so much fun and provides a multiplayer experience that breathes some much-needed fresh air into the first-person shooter genre. Like any other shooter, one of the most important aspects of Splitgate are its weapons, and it has plenty of them to offer.

Splitgate combines the best of what made Halo and Portal so much fun and provides a multiplayer experience that breathes some much-needed fresh air into the first-person shooter genre. Like any other shooter, one of the most important aspects of Splitgate are its weapons, and it has plenty of them to offer.

There are currently 11 guns in Splitgate and they all have some advantages. However, not all guns are created equal and some are simply better than others. It helps to know which to pick up if you don’t have the time to try every single one of them.

Here’s a tier list for all of the 11 weapons in Splitgate based on their usefulness, with the how and why explained. Let’s get started!

11. Pistol

The Pistol falls in the not so glamorous category of “better than nothing”. It has an okay fire rate and the damage is quite low – but those who are good at getting headshots can still get some use out of it. It’s ultimately the least desirable gun due to its low damage and due to the fact that there are guns that have a faster fire rate too.

10. Assault Rifle

The Assault Rifle has a very fast fire rate, but the damage potential is not very good and its ammunition capacity is lower than the SMG. It’s an alright weapon if you don’t have anything else, but it requires you to headshot too much and it’s not very variable in terms of range. You should only use it until you get another gun or to try to shoot people from close range when they enter or exit a portal.

9. SMG

The SMG is the fastest weapon in Splitgate and it has a magazine size of 50 bullets. The damage potential is not very high, but it does its job if you know how to be persistent with your attacks.

It’s best suited for close-to-mid ranged encounters since it does not have a scope, but if you know how to use the weapon, it’s far better than the Pistol or the Assault Rifle.

8. Plasma Rifle

The Plasma Rifle has the same fire rate as the Assault Rifle, but it has better damage and feels way cooler. However, the projectiles that it fires can easily miss if you’re not precise. You will have to foresee where the enemy is moving next in order to hit them at the right time.

7.  Carbine

The Carbine has great damage potential and is incredibly useful for long-ranged encounters. Although its slow fire rate might seem like a problem at first – once you learn to be precise with it, you’ll see how useful it is as a weapon.

It’s a bit like the sniper, but it is not as slow and it allows you to be on the move instead of requiring you to adopt a campy playstyle.

6. Sniper

The Sniper is the best weapon for those who are patient and want a lot of range. The damage is very high, headshots are instant-kills, and it has the highest scope magnification in the game.

There’s not much else to say about it since it’s a straightforward gun – but that’s exactly what makes it so good.

5. Battle Rifle

The Battle Rifle, particularly with the ADS, is a very good weapon in the game. It shoots three bullets each time it is fired and it’s one of the few weapons in the game that is very lenient in terms of range. If you don’t mind using a burst-fire weapon compared to a simpler machine gun, then the Battle Rifle is what you need. You will enjoy its damage output, its quick fire rate and the ability to use the recoil to your advantage.

4. Railgun

The Railgun is somewhat OP due to how much damage it deals, regardless of where it hits its target. It has a fire rate of 0.75s and a 1s charge time – and most targets that it hits have a good chance to die.

The only reason it’s number 4 and not number 1 is because it takes a lot of time to get used to, mostly when it comes to precision. But those who are able to handle this bad boy will be a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.

3. Shotgun

The Shotgun is a weapon that can be trusted in most video games. It does a great amount of damage and it usually does well in the hands of players who like to apply a lot of pressure. In Splitgate, the Shotgun shoots seven projectiles at once and each will deal damage based on the area of the body that they hit. You can get one-shot kills easily if you time your shots right, so it’s a great weapon to use.

2. BFB

The BFB is the only melee weapon available in the game. It looks like and is used as a baseball bat and despite being a melee weapon, it’s one of the best ways to get kills. It only takes a single hit to take enemies out, but, as you’d expect, it’s not as easy to use as one would wish. So, if you can handle your swings right – BFB is the weapon to pick.

1. Rocket Launcher

The Rocket Launcher needs no introduction. It’s a weapon that can cause a ridiculous amount of damage. The main problem with this bad boy is that you can get killed by your own blast if you don’t get the radius right. Its lack of precision can also get you in trouble: beware getting sandwiched by a different player when trying to focus on hitting another one. But undoubtedly, if you take the time to get used to it, it’s the best weapon in the game right now.
